Series and Divisional Championships

When you compete in an official race in any regular series, from the Advanced Rookie level on up, you earn Championship Points, and the points you earn each week determine your position in the overall series championship race, and in the Divisional championship race (your race division for each season is determined based on your iRating at the beginning of each season).

From the iRacing Sporting Code:

4.7. Individual Championships

4.7.1. iRacing.com Championships

4.7.1.1. The individual race championships shall be known as the iRacing.com Championships and will be decided by a driver’s accumulation of points in official RACE sessions in a given season.

4.7.1.2. Drivers may participate in as many official sessions as they like during a given race week. Points will be finalized at the end of the race week and recorded as the driver’s official points for that week. These finalized race week point’s count towards a driver’s season-ending point total.

4.7.1.3. Each standard series shall crown [b]an overall season race champion and divisional race champions for each of 10 competition divisions[/b] .

4.7.1.4. Standard series open to rookie competition license holders will crown champions for 11 competition divisions, including the 10 regular divisions and the eleventh rookie-only division.

4.7.1.5. Although Race Points, Race Week Points and Season Race Points are calculated, non-standard, four-week Rookie Series do not include seasonal championships.

4.7.1.6.Season Time Trial Champions will be determined in the same manner as Race Series championships.

Certificates are awarded for the top three positions in each division in each series, and these certificates appear under the "Awards" tab on your Driver Stats page to show your accomplishments over the course of your iRacing "career" -- and, the certificates themselves are in PDF format that can be printed out as actual 8-1/2 x 11 certificates which you can proudly display to show your accomplishments outside of the iRacing Stats area.

The overall championship competition and the divisional championships are ways that you can use to make your race participation more meaningful, giving you goals to work toward, and enabling you to see how your cumulative performance throughout a season compares to that of your peers.
